Programs

The Intro Fellowship.

Our flagship program, running as an accelerated three-week virtual cohort this September.

A fellowship discussion circle

Learn how to do good, better.

Want to have a bigger impact with your career, your donations, and your time, and meet a community of UChicago students who care about the same thing? The Intro Fellowship is the best place to start.

We run the fellowship every quarter as a guided tour of the core ideas of effective altruism: how to compare problems, how to weigh evidence, and how to actually make a difference with the resources you have. This September, we're running an accelerated version: fully virtual, three weeks, September 1–18, so you can dive in before the school year picks up. No prior background needed.

The experience

What the fellowship involves

  • Twice-weekly, hour-long small-group discussions (online) with fellow UChicago students about using evidence and reason to help others as effectively as possible

  • New lenses on the world drawn from economics, philosophy, applied rationality, and evidence-based science

  • Career resources, curated reading lists, and videos on the issues that matter most

  • Opportunities to meet professionals working in AI safety, biosecurity, animal welfare, global health and development, and effective philanthropy

  • Eligibility for exclusive programming like the Midwest EA Retreat, plus membership in a local and global community of people committed to doing good well
